There are several instrumental groups offered of junior high and high school students at Fremont Christian School: Junior High Band, Warrior Band, and Traditional Jazz Band. Consisting of many talented high school musicians, Warrior Band and Traditional Jazz Band frequently perform and participate in band competitions.

Junior High Band

The Junior High Band is made up of 6th, 7th, and 8th graders who have had at least one or two years of music training on their instrument. In this class, students develop their musical abilities in reading music notation, tone production, phrasing, and performing. The Junior High Band performs a number of times throughout the school in formal concerts, festival adjudications, and in our pops concert series, Java 'n' Jazz. The typical instrumentation for this ensemble is flute, oboe, bassoon, clarinet, bass clarinet, alto saxophone, tenor saxophone, baritone saxophone, French horn, trumpet, trombone, baritone, tuba, double bass, and concert percussion. Students are introduced to playing different musical styles, from jazz to classical.

High School Symphonic Band: Warrior Band

Symphonic Band is the final stage of instrumental instruction at FCS. Students at this level should be proficient at tone production and phrasing and should be able to play in a range of different musical styles. The course objectives are to give students an enriched experience in instrumental performance and to provide many opportunities for public concerts, when possible.

High School Traditional Jazz Band

The Traditional Jazz Band is a select group of six to nine musicians who rehearse three times weekly. During the course of the year, students work to improve their understanding of traditional jazz music and to grow as creative improvisers. The Traditional Jazz Band holds numerous performances throughout the year, ranging from concerts and private engagements to farmers' markets and jazz festivals.
